About Us: Why We Started Social Connect

Hi, we’re Liisa and Tim, the co-founders of Social Connect—a project born out of our shared desire to create something meaningful after navigating the pitfalls of app-based dating. Like many, we turned to dating apps, but instead of genuine connections, we found dishonesty, mismatched profiles, ghosting and toxicity. From unsolicited photos to people who weren’t even single, the experience left us questioning: why couldn’t there be a better way?

That’s when we realized the solution was simple—bringing people together in person. We created Social Connect to offer a safe, fun and relaxed environment where singles "grown-ups" could meet without pressure, algorithms or matchmaking. But as we are planning these events, we also saw the potential for more than just dating. We are purposefully designing Social Connect events to become a space where people could foster friendships, expand their social circles or even find new professional connections.

Whether it’s biking through vineyards, sharing stories over a mountain-top dinner or enjoying a local festival, our events focus on meaningful, face-to-face interactions in vibrant settings. We’re here to help people rediscover the joy of real connections—friendships, relationships, simply great company or who knows, you might find your next special someone.
